Call before you dig

In Alabama, it is a legal requirement to ensure that utility lines are properly marked before engaging in any mechanized excavation activities. Alabama 811 is responsible for receiving notifications, also known as locate requests, from individuals who intend to dig. They then, relay these requests to our affiliated utility companies, allowing them to mark their lines and enable safe excavation procedures to begin.

There is no fee to have your lines marked or to dial 811.

If you smell gas

Natural gas has an odor similar to rotten eggs. If you think you smell gas, please call Geneva County Gas District at 334-684-2284.  After hours or weekends, call your local police or 911.

If you are outside and smell gas - call 334-684-2284 or 911 .

If you are inside and smell gas - avoid operating anything electrical (Light Switches, Fans, Phones, etc.) or lighting candles or matches.

Evacuate the building leaving doors open.

Call 334-684-2284 or 911 from outside or a neighbor's phone . . . NEVER from inside.
